The establishment of UTAR begins with the story of KTAR. In 1964 the MCA mooted the idea of setting up a College. The then President of the MCA, the late YAB Tun Tan Siew Sin, appointed the late Tan Sri Khaw Kai Boh to chair a working team for Higher Education Planning and to draw up a blueprint for the establishment of the College.
