Cartoonist Reggie Lee will represent Malaysia at the Fourth Asean Cartoonist Exhibition organized by the Japan Foundation Asean Culture Centre in Tokyo from May 27 to June 13.
The annual exhibition will provide a forum for popular cartoonists from Southeast Asia and Japan to discuss and exchange views and ideas.
Participants are nominated by the Japan Foundation and they are required to submit 20 original cartoons based on this year's theme "Changing Asia".
Lee said he was deeply honoured at being selected as Malaysia's representative as only the top cartoonists from each of the five Asean countries were invited.
"To be acknowledged as being in the same league as Lat, Nan and Zunar, all of whom have represented Malaysia previously, means a lot to me," Lee added.
Lee is the executive art director of Peter Beaumont & Friends, an advertising agency.
He has been responsible for a series of acclaimed advertising campaigns.
During his 18 years in advertising, Lee has won a string of both local and international awards.
Well known for his social commentary type cartoons in the series "Reggie's Eye" in The Malay Mail last year, his cartoons also appeared in the humour magazine Gila-Gila and several overseas publications.
He has also successfully published two cartoon compilations, Made in Malaysia and Reggie Lee.
Recently, Lee was commissioned by Waddington to illustrate and design the box cover for the Malaysian version of Monopoly.
Lee has also been invited by international magazine Wine and Dine to illustrate the cover for a special feature on Malaysian food.
With invitations pouring in, Lee is certainly heading towards the big league!
